There are multiple reasons. One of which is that Aloe Vera is an analgesic, which helps to calm discomfort and pain. When your horse is not in pain they will generally be in a more calm and relaxed state.
Short answer is, It depends on the issue.. It can be as soon as 10-15 minutes for certain issues and for more long-term complex issues it can take several weeks to a month. Don't give up! It is important to let the Aloe work its magic and to do that you need to be consistent and patient

Love PharmAloe, and more importantly, so do my horses. I ride OTTBs for endurance, and they no doubt have ulcers from their past careers. Many endurance riders give omeprazole and/or sucralfate and then wonder why ulcers keep coming back, whereas aloe is a natural and proven ulcer solution. My horses are out 23.75x7 and get no grain but only a few supplements including a ration balancer and PharmAloe pellets. They will eat PharmAloe pellets out of my hand and seem to think it’s a treat. I won’t tell if you won’t tell!
The donkey in front is fed PharmAloe pellets daily. She is performing better than ever. She is used for packing & is competitive in Pack Burro Racing.

Not quite 100% but certainly noticeably better!!!! Been on loading dose for almost 2 weeks. Her coat is starting to get its shine back and my happy girl is emerging. Will certainly be continuing it. She gobbles them right up. My picky eater actually likes something that’s good for her. 100% recommend!

I am having great success top dressing for my 24 year old Arabian gelding. He is a colic survivor by nearly 4 years, and Cushings. As seasons change he tends to go off feed a bit. When that happens I've learned to offer a small amount by hand. He takes it as a treat and it seems to 'jump start' his appetite. No more worrabout dropping too much weght.
The yellow mare is 26 years old, still goes out on trails, usually ponying the red mare. She has great gut sounds and is keeping her body condition. She’s been on Pharm-Aloe pellets for a number of years. I think it works well, glad I tried it out.

So far loving it for my guy really seams to help keep his tummy from getting upset when we are riding. He is a somewhat reactive horse and would get loose stools when traveling. Seams to be helping a lot with that . He also eats it right up all by itself! Great product!
This donkey started having issues presenting like mild colic. Donkeys are very stoic, so when you see something wrong, you need to pay attention. We have used PharmAloe gel when we travel. Since starting her daily on the PharmAloe pellets per our vet recommendation, she has put on weight and is the healthiest she has ever been.
I started out using the Pharm Aloe 4X Concentrate when my horse was showing signs of ulcers. Feeding my OTTBs Pharm-Aloe just makes sense, plus they love the taste. Like many OTTBs, my mares likely have residual ulcers. Omeprazole may be the gold standard in western medicine, but if you read about it, you'd likely not give it to your horses. Between the acid rebound and calcium depletion, a much better and natural solution is aloe. A scoop of Pharm-Aloe keeps the ulcers away!
My Standardbred and has had ulcers and was prone to a sour stomach, so I decided to give Aloe pellets a try and what a difference!!! I ran out after a few months of feeding and he slowly started to get cranky and exhibit discomfort again and I immediately ordered paste to have on hand and put my order on auto ship!!
